Chicago Blues Harp Bash #3!
Chicago Blues Harp Bash #3 was held on Sunday, September 12 at SPACE, in Evanston.
The headliner, Muddy Waters and Eric Clapton sideman Jerry Portnoy, brought the house down and included a song with the MC for the event Joe Filisko.
Other local are musicians that played were:
- Shoji Naito, with guest Willie Buck
- Highway RickEy
- Harry Garner
- Lamont "Harmonica" Harris with special guest Tommy McCracken
- "Corporate" Kirk Manley
The backing band was led by Jerry Hundt on guitar, "Steady" Eddy Kobek on drums, Mike Flynn on bass, and Shoji Naito on guitar.
The show was a sellout (again!) and the new location at SPACE provided a great listening and viewing environment.
The playing was phenomenal with several special guests on harmonica and vocals. There were a couple of surprise guests in the audience: the headliners from the first two bashes, Billy Boy Arnold and Jim Liban!
A great time, and a great show, was had by all and the excitement is already building for Bash #4!
